Now entering its third year, our High School Program at Southern Oregon University is the perfect place to develop skills for debaters from all over the country. With a slightly more persuasion-focused curriculum, to meet the needs of Oregon debaters, our Ashland camp features an incredible cast of instructors, a small but close-knit community, and a curriculum intended to meet every debater's needs.

A flexible curriculum

Our Ashland program is smaller than Berkeley, which gives us even more flexibility in our instruction. As the camp progresses, we change the curriculum regularly, making homework assignments and arranging partnerships based on what individuals need most.

This camp tends to fit best for debaters heading into varsity from junior varsity, or going into their second year of varsity and hoping to win big next year.

Whatever your experience, we'll do our best to make you comfortable, well-prepared, and ready to achieve your goals!

Instructors who care

At POI, our instructors help you grow as debaters and as people.

By the time we reach Ashland, we've been through our entire Berkeley program— and come out of it with new teaching ideas, well-developed lectures, and lots of knowledge about the future of the parliamentary debate circuit.

Our Ashland instructors, then, know what you need to win at every level, and are dedicated to making those possibilities a reality.

Having fun in Ashland

Learn and Laugh

Our camp days aren't just about rigorous education— they're also about building a sense of community, and developing a social learning environment.

At POI Ashland, we organize movie nights, pizza parties, and other fun activities— throwing frisbees at the local park, walks into the historic town center for ice cream, and board game evenings, to name a few.

With a small camp community and lots of lounge spaces, debaters tend to organize their own events as well: movies on the lounge TVs, or hide and seek around the dorms. It's those moments that solidify and cement your POI friendships.
